I was a painting major in college, but I fell into teaching photography my first year in education at Shawnee Mission North. I loved taking photography in school but I didn't know that I had stumbled into teaching something amazing. Seeing the magic of light and chemistry turn students' work into art never ceases to amaze me. After experiencing darkroom processes from a student's point of view, it has been an amazing journey to see this art form from a teacher's perspective for the last 6 years. I also teach painting at Blue Valley Southwest and I try to keep learning and improving as a painter as well. I consider myself a lifelong learner and traveler. Always curious, I try to translate that curiosity to my students. I want them to think, innovate, and create outside of the walls of my class and carry that into their lives after they leave Blue Valley Southwest.
